Did you know that more than half of the cartoons included in Mox's Illustrated Guide to Freelance Translation have never been published before?

  3. Mox is lucky that the target language is english. At least he can use automatic replacement. Not so easy if the words had to be declined.

  4. In some cases the Evil PM's strategy might backfire: Some languages have more words than others. The same text from German to English is likely to have less words in the source text than from English to German!

  5. Very true, Technical translator! Definitely depends on the language. Paying per source and charging per target would definitely backfire if the job were Russian to English. And imagine paying per source word on a Finnish to English job, where 100 words of Finnish easily translates into 300 words of English!

  6. Oops, I meant *charging per source word on a FI>EN job...

  7. lol - keep them coming Mox. Only today I had to do a crazy search replace on a 36K word document to change Times New Roman 12pt to Arial 11pt which was entangled in a bunch of other fonts and sizes.

Next time I'll remember this little trick! lol
