Unfortunately yes, many times.........:-(, but I always turn this kind of costumers down and I hope I'll be able to continue doing so. I can accept to work with CAT tools and existing TM (even though not so pleasant if the previous translator(s) didn't do there job well enough) but I don't see why I should apply discounts for it. CAT tools are a big investment in time and money, and the translator still has the responsibility to ensure the quality of the delivered work.
I agree...Translation is to poetry what water is to fire. BUT, by inventing a new poem out of the old... even a better poem than the original can come out...
Dear Spammers, your comments will be deleted and marked as spam. Dear colleagues, I will not be able to reply to your questions. It was too much time consuming.
This one would be hilarious if not so close to the truth...
ReplyDeleteThanks anyway : )

ReplyDeleteA classic when the client has no idea :)
ReplyDeleteQuestion, who the heck would send a poem to a translation agency? Don't forget, you get what you pay for.
ReplyDeleteWow, surely not! I find it hard to believe that anyone would think this was a good idea. Please tell me this wasn't based on a real experience...
